Review of past issues:

Trash pickup: no current issues

Dues: a couple of contributions have come in

Contact updates: we recieved 6 forms

Street sign: a shiny new Loyola sign was installed on the corner of Fulton

Dark trees on east side of Loyola/Fulton intersection: we discussed talking to street lighting contacts as well as apartment building owner to see if they could provide lighting on the corner directed under the trees for safety. Additionally, there was some report of a homeless person sleeping there recently, which the addition of lighting might discourage. Thais says she has contacts we can pursue the issue with

New Items:

Block party: we decided on a date of June 10th for the block party. The idea is a casual BBQ like we had last time. We will purchase burgers/hot dogs/sausages and beers/beverages using dues collected (about $100 budget). We created a Party Committee of which I am the Chair of to hammer out details. There will be an evite sent out shortly to find out who thinks they will attend. There was a suggestion to add a street beautification aspect to the party, so if there are any suggestions as to what this might entail, please throw them out.

Fulton Street Re-design: Ricardo brought some blueprints for a potential Fulton street lane re-alignment that would take the number of lanes between Masonic and Stanyan from 4 to 3, creating one lane of travel east and west and a center turn lane. At Masonic, the center turn lane would be a left-hand turn lane, elsewhere it would be a broken double yellow line turning lane/median that would make it easier to take a left out of the "terrace" streets as well as providing better pedestrian crossing. Basically, it would mimic the design of Fulton east of Masonic.

The City has a "request for traffic calming" form that can be submitted by residents. If enough residents submit the request, the project will make onto the City's to-do list. Ricardo indicated that 10 resident signatures are needed to submit the form and that if there were a cover letter attached to the form from the Neighborhood Association it way carry more weight.

Some concerns with the project were raised, so I think we would need some larger concensus reached before the Association formally took a position on the concept, but i think there was enough support to continue to discuss the issue.

Web site: A replacement web site has not yet been completed. I volunteered to find a free hosting solution.

Next meeting: scheduled for July 9th
